HomeCycle is a free at-home service to recycle tricky items or donate reusable household goods.

This is a free collection service for City of Canada Bay residents. Book without leaving home. Recycle items that cannot be placed in your yellow-lidded recycling bin. Donate items to reduce reusable items sent to landfill.

Step 1

Make a Booking

Confirm you live in the Canada Bay area.

Book your Collection using our booking form.

Collections are limited to one booking per week, per address and must have a minimum of 2 bags per pick-up.

Step 2

Pack your items

Where possible, box or bag items separately, as they go to different places (see how to pack your items)

Leave items outside in a safe and accessible spot near your front door the night before your collection day.

If you live in an apartment building, please ensure you place your items in an accessible location. Our drivers will not have access to secure buildings.

Please ensure no other items are left by your front door and collected by mistake.

Step 3

Your items are collected

The accepted items will be collected on your booked collection day and a SMS notification will be sent once items are collected.

If items were left behind, it is likely they were not an accepted item included in the service.

Don’t forget to retrieve your reusable bags.

Book Your HomeCycle Collection

What we collect

• Clothing, Textiles and Manchester

Wearable clothing, non-wearable clothing, fashion accessories (swimwear, hats, gloves, handbags, belts, jewellery), shoes, towels and manchester (excluding pillows, cushions, doonas and doona covers). Please no wet items.

• Small Household Items (Bric-a-Brac)

Good quality toys, in good working condition (batteries removed), small handheld sporting goods, musical instruments (excluding large instruments like organs, drum kits), cookwear, homewares, décor and antiques (excluding books)
All items should be able to be handled and lifted by one person.

• E-waste

Small appliances (eg. kettle, toaster, iron, blender, alarm clock, radio, hairdryer, straightener, electric toothbrushes), small televisions (suitable for a 1 man lift, under 42”), computers and peripherals (eg. computers, laptops, tablets, e-readers, mouse, keyboards, game consoles, speakers).

• Problem Waste

Fluorescent tubes, smoke detectors, small sealed paint tins (2L or less) and small household batteries (rechargeable, non-rechargeable, small batteries – AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, 6V, lantern, watch and button batteries). Please place batteries inside a separate soft plastic bag for safety.

• Mobile Phones

Phone and phone batteries.

• Printer Cartridges

All types of printer cartridges (If possible, place cartridge inside replacement foil bag, otherwise place in a soft plastic bag).

• Oversized Cardboard up to 1m2

Boxes and large cardboard packaging (all polystyrene and tape removed, flat packed)
Boxes may be packed inside a larger box and separated from other streams.
Oversized cardboard must be flattened or broken down to a maximum 1m x 1m pieces.
* Cardboard collections are subject to available space left in the vehicle on the day. If there isn’t enough space available, you will need to book another collection.

• Soft Plastics

Soft, scrunchable plastics such as shopping bags, wrappers, confectionary packets, bread bags and fresh produce bags.

• Blister Packs

Empty pill packets made of plastic and foil or fully foil packets. Please ensure the blister packs are empty and placed in a separate bag to your soft plastics.

• Coffee Pods

Put coffee pods in a separate soft plastic bag and tie it up to stop leaks.

• Furniture, whitegoods and bulky items

Small and large furniture, whitegoods, mattresses, mirrors, large televisions, sporting machines, large instruments, outdoor settings, BBQ equipment, and bikes.

• Baby equipment

Prams, cots, car seats, walkers, highchairs (baby clothing accepted)

• Hazardous waste, chemicals and cleaners

Poisons, pesticides, household cleaners, pool chemicals, motor oil, cooking oil.

• Paint tins over 2L

• Pillows, cushions, doonas and doona covers

• Underwear and socks

• Books

• Gas bottles

• Large batteries

Car batteries, power tool batteries, e-bike batteries

• Polystyrene

• Fire Extinguishers

• Medicines

• Cosmetic packaging

• Tyres

• Renovation waste and building materials

• Items that can go in your recycling bins at home

Bottles, plastic containers, glass, small cardboard, foil and cans – put them in your yellow lid bin.
